Hi, I’m Bernie - Founder and Practice Owner of Balanced Books by Bernie.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that most business owners don’t start their business because they love bookkeeping… and honestly, that’s completely understandable!

I support small businesses, sole traders, and growing businesses across the UK with bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, and financial organisation support designed to make life a little less stressful.

Before moving into bookkeeping, I spent many years working in fast-paced operational and customer-focused roles, where I developed strong organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills, plus the ability to stay calm when things get busy!

Over time, my interest in the more structured and financial side of business grew, which led me to complete my bookkeeping and accounting studies and eventually launch my own bookkeeping practice.

My approach is friendly, supportive, and jargon-free. I believe business owners deserve financial support that feels approachable and reliable - not confusing or overwhelming.

I enjoy helping clients feel more organised, more confident in their finances, and more in control of the day-to-day side of running a business.

I particularly enjoy supporting retail, hospitality, and other service-based businesses, as I understand the fast-paced environments and day-to-day pressures that often come with running customer-focused businesses.

Supporting businesses in these industries has shown me how important organised finances, payroll, and reliable bookkeeping support can be when business owners are already juggling a hundred other things!
